3 Property Inspection Reminders for the Winter

3 Property Inspection Reminders for the Winter

  1. Furnace Inspection:

If your home inspection report suggested to get the furnace(s) cleaned: you really should. Dust and debris in furnaces can not only affect the air quality (dust and odours), but also can cover the flame sensor and ignitor causing the furnace to mis-fire (turn on and off continuosly). This can damage the unit; and of course, don’t forget to check the filters monthly.

  1. Inspect Hose bibbs:

As freezing nights are becoming common now, you should remove any hoses and attachments to the exterior hose bib. Closing the interior shut – off and draining the the hose bib is a good idea, especially if the unit is not frost free.

  1. Downspouts, downspouts, downspouts:

Many people think that just because it’s winter, we don’t get rain and thus you don’t need downspout extensions. That is not the case as snow will melt from your roof and run down the gutters and downspouts. So keep those extensions away from the house and water out of the foundation.
